There are several
Kindred of great repute in the city. Most will recognize their names,
even if they haven't met them personally.
Jacob Holloway - Ventrue - Camarilla Prince
Holloway
is the owner
and manager of the upscale Alhambra Hotel. Most of his business is
conducted through his ghouls, so it is very rare that a mortal not
under his complete control has an opportunity to set eyes upon him.
Holloway spent centuries of his unlife as an explorer, researcher and
globetrotter, aided by his close friend, Hasan Al-Rashid. The pair
settled in Verdant Falls a little over a century ago, and their
charisma quickly secured Holloway the position as Prince. Their
excellent management of the city, as well as their peerless strength,
have kept him in power despite several coup attempts.
Though Holloway disdains violence, his skill with a
rapier is nothing short of remarkable. He is respected by the Camarilla
as a just and fair ruler, and feared by his enemies as an Elder of
immense power.
Hasan Al-Rashid - Assamite Schismatic - Autarch
Despite
his clan’s reputation, Hasan is abnormally even-tempered, and has
an infamous caustic wit. He cares little for politics, and relegates
himself to the social niceties his prince does not care for. Hasan
enjoys this unique role, as he carries the clout of the Prince, without
the obligation of needing to be diplomatic. He usually acts for the
Prince when new Kindred announce their presence in the city, and this
meeting more often than not ends with Hasan goading the poor fledgling
into a frenzy and laughing at the pitiful attempts to destroy him.
While he is not officially aligned with the Camarilla, his closeness to
the Prince has earned him some degree of disdain from other members of
his clan.
Hasan has a great thirst for knowledge, and a love
of history and the occult. However, he is most well-known for his
godlike fighting prowess. He has an intimate knowledge of practically
every weapon ever to grace the earth, and stories about his exploits
range fom the plausible to the outright ridiculous. There is not a
single Kindred in the city that does not know his name, and does not
feel something when standing in his presence, be it rock star awe,
abject fear, or complete loathing.
Hasan maintains a network of spies, informants and
allies in Verdant Falls. Few occurrences escape his personal notice,
and when a crime scene needs to be cleaned to uphold the masquerade, it
is Hasan's network that ultimately does the legwork.
Msizi "Mik" Nkosi - Akunanse - Camarilla Sherriff
Msizi,
or Mik as he is known to those that cannot pronounce his name, first
met Hasan and Jacob during their adventuring days. While the pair was
still young, vast amounts of open space without shelter proved a
daunting hurdle to their expeditions. The Laibon of Africa proved
little help to the outsiders, and it was only when Msizi, an outsider
himself, found them that they learned to survive in that harsh land in
exchange for an equal measure of knowledge.
In the devastation and racial persecution that
followed the Second Boer War, survival became difficult for Msizi.
Jacob was in the midst of building an empire in his new city, and so he
was more than willing to return the favour to his old friend. Despite
his rank and title among the Kindred, Msizi is very much an outsider,
feared by many Kindred for his mastery of the beast, and of course, his
horriffic appearance. However, it is these abilities that he uses to
keep the Kindred of the city in line.
Msizi apparently had a haven in Victoria Park (and
is rumoured to be the reason it was constructed). However, he was most
often found in the Tremere Chantry, or in the woods beyond Taben's
Ridge. For some reason, the Garou never bothered him.
Msizi has been missing for nearly a decade, and his
whereabouts are unknown. The Prince refuses to believe his friend is
dead, and occasion has not arisen for him to declare a new Sherriff.
Jean Cormier - Tremere Regent - Camarilla Primogen
Jean
is the eldest of his clan in Verdant Falls, and holds the rank of
Regent. His chantry operates within the affluent Rosewood district of
Verdant Falls. Though he is a notorious recluse, rarely deigning to
associate with the lesser clans, he can sometimes be seen in the
Alhambra’s VIP commons when he has business with the prince.
His Chantry houses a wealth of knowledge, and the
Regent has taken the bizarre step of offering it freely to all the
Kindred of the city. However, the more secret knowledges of his clan
are kept under close guard, and outsiders seeking to learn such things
are met with swift and brutal punishment.
Any Kindred new to the city and curious about their
nature would do well to visit the chantry. If that newcomer happens to
be a Tremere, the visit is mandatory.
Luc Beaumont - Gangrel - Autarch
Luc's
pack is the closest thing to Anarchs that exist in Verdant Falls. They
are often referred to as such by ignorant neonates and disdainful
elders, but Luc takes offense to such a branding. He and his pack
accept the presence of the Camarilla, and largely abide by their
rulings. However, Luc has made it clear that he swears no allegiance to
anyone but his pack.
In the past, Luc has recieved much scorn and
notoriety for harbouring Kindred under a Blood Hunt, but he has only
done this twice. In both incidents, he did not agree with the Prince's
ruling.
Mr Seavers - Kiasyd - Autarch
Mr.
Seavers is known only as such, as he and other Kindred are not on a
first-name basis. Though the Kiasyd are primarily a Sabbat clan, Mr.
Seavers has never claimed allegiance to anyone but himself. He was
present when the Camarilla came to Verdant Falls, and made no move to
interfere as they built their empire around him. Truly, not even the
Garou can recall a time when he was not present. For all intents and
purposes, he has always been there. He is content to stay within his
haven, venturing out only to tend to his ghouls, and to minor affairs
of etiquette.
Like most Kiasyd, Mr. Seavers is polite to a
fault, and expects nothing less of the Kindred who encounter him.
Beneath his calm exterior lurks a cruel and vindictive mind, and those
that displease him have suffered a myriad of horrible punishments.
However, those that treat him respectfully have been the recipients of
the luxurious hospitality of his haven. The obvious exception to this
rule would be the Malkavians; he has shown remarkable patience and
civility when dealing with even the most unruly of their kind.
The Camarilla remain in contact with Mr. Seavers because of his
unparalleled knowledge of the occult. His haven is brimming with
ancient tomes from the old world, as well as countless Mi’kmaq
artefacts. No Kindred knows more about the horrid past of Verdant Falls
than he.
Those seeking answers must first be known to him –
neonates and newcomers needn’t bother – and must demonstrate a thirst
for knowledge. Ethical and political affiliations do not seem to
concern him, and he has reportedly even granted appointments to
werewolves and mortals. His ghouls in the antiquities shop have been
known to arrange invitations to his haven. There are few problems he
does not know the answer to, and such information is offered freely to
houseguests who meet his approval…of course, any polite houseguest
knows to bring an appropriate gift with them.
Anyone foolish
enough to attempt to steal from him have quickly learned that his vast
knowledge also applies to Kindred disciplines. One treads carefully
around such an ancient vampire, but to deliberately anger him provides
a Kindred with a quick lesson in just how short one’s unlife can be.
Most Kindred in the city have heard at least one horror story about his
cruelty, and even the most stalwart vampires feel fear and grudging
respect in his presence.
